These two sonatas by Boismortier are among some of the most performed works in the bassoon repertoire. Written in 1734, these works are in a distinctly baroque style, though still showing hints of the classical style to come. Each of these two sonatas provide students with an opportunity to hone their tone, technique, articulation, and approach to ornamentation, as well as providing even seasoned professionals with opportunities for musical expression not often seen in the bassoon repertoire.
